Apple Unveils New Ipad

Apple CEO Steve Jobs on Wednesday unveiled the iPad, the widely and wildly anticipated tablet-style computer that he called "a truly magical and revolutionary product."
"What this device does is extraordinary," Jobs said. "It is the best browsing experience you've ever had. ... It's unbelievably great ... way better than a laptop. Way better than a smartphone."

The computer will act as a sort of missing link between the two. The model Jobs demonstrated at an invitation-only event in San Francisco operated without a hardware keyboard, with Jobs typing on what he described as a nearly full-size touchscreen keyboard.
"It's a dream to type on," he said.

It has a nearly 10-inch screen, runs existing apps from the Apple apps store and is available in 16-gigabyte, 32-gigabyte and 64-gigabyte versions, according to Jobs.

It will be about a half-inch thick and weigh about 1½ pounds.
Jobs said the iPad will be lightning fast: "It screams," he told a crowd that included former Vice President Al Gore.

The device will have a 1 GHz processor, an announcement that coaxed "oohs" and "ahs" from the audience.
Pricing will start at $499 for the 16-gigabyte version, $599 for the 32-gig version and $699 for the 64, Jobs said.

Having 3G mobile access will cost an extra $130 on each, he said.
Two mobile plans will be available through AT&T, and there will be no contracts, allowing customers to opt out at any time, according to Jobs.

They are scheduled to begin shipping in 60 days.

Jobs and executives from other companies announced several new apps designed for the iPad, including the New York Times and Major League Baseball. The slate also will be able to run all iPhone applications unmodified.

Some members of the struggling print media have expressed hope in recent weeks that a popular Apple tablet could renew interest in their content while bringing new revenue through subscription plans or iTunes purchases.

Also creating buzz at the event was the unveiling of the iBook interface, an aspect of the iPad that's expected to take a big bite out of the e-reader market currently dominated by Amazon's Kindle.

The iBook display looks like a real wooden bookshelf and will let users touch a book on that shelf to read it. It lets readers change fonts, tap the screen to turn pages or drag pages with their finger, according to Jobs' demonstration.

Jobs demonstrated several functions on the iPad, including Google Street View and used the reader function to pull up the New York Times and Time magazine.

Apple disciples -- and, yes, some await each new product announcement from the company with near cult-like devotion -- have been anticipating a tablet computer for several years.

The company has been considering designs for such a device since as early as 1983, and some smaller consumer-electronics companies already have rolled tablet computers onto the market.

Attendees at the Apple event cheered on several occasions, hollering particularly loudly when a skinny Jobs took the stage, when the iPad's price was announced, when Jobs debuted the iBookstore and when it was announced that the iPad will be sold unlocked, without a mobile carrier contract.

Some tech writers in the audience said they came into the event unsure of the concept but left as near-converts to the idea.

"I went into it prepared to be very skeptical, but I was impressed," said Jacqui Cheng, a senior writer at the tech site Ars Technica. "As a person who uses an iPhone, a laptop and a Kindle, it's kind of a natural way to combine all three things."

Stephen Hutcheon, an editor at the Sydney Morning Herald, said the iPad has sex appeal.
"It certainly has that Apple panache to it, so I'm sure it will be a top seller," he said.

Dylan Tweney, an editor at Wired.com, said the product did little to impress him.
Some tech writers said they were shocked that the iPad's price is so low, when they had predicted it to cost about $1,000. And Cheng said she found it amazing that the iPad doesn't lock consumers into a mobile contract.

But the iPad doesn't have a camera, as some had hoped. There was some groaning across the Internet at the news that AT&T -- which some users have accused of spotty coverage on the iPhone -- would be carrying the iPad's 3G signal too.

And the machine's apparent inability to run multiple applications at the same time was getting some negative comments.

And then there's the name. Lots of folks watching the announcement -- some of them, no doubt, dedicated Apple haters -- were quick to make the lowbrow connection between the name and a personal hygiene product.

While the Apple event was still going on, the term "iTampon" became a trending topic on Twitter.
Financial analysts debate how big the tablet market will be.

Bob O'Donnell, vice president of the firm IDG, said he expects the new tablet or slate computer category to result in 3 million to 4 million device sales this year, an amount he said was on par with e-reader sales for 2009. So, the category is notable but not enormous, he said.

Quote of the Day

“The love that lasts the longest is the love that is never returned.”-William Somerset Maugham

Four types of Women-The makeup of a woman

1. The wife type (Claire Huxtable): This type is rare. She tends to be somewhat shy, is not boy crazy and has a maternal quality about her that children and men find endearing. She is kind and courteous. She is compassionate and empathetic at an early age. She is not inclined to make fun of boys and will not hurt their feelings. She is upbeat and friendly and often gets hit on because she will smile and return a strangers respectful greeting. At a dance or party she will dance with most males who ask her just to be kind. She is modest and does not dress provocatively. She is not attracted to thugs, bums, fools and rogues and the idea of sleeping with an assortment of men is repulsive and revolting to her. She dreams of being with one man and that man would be her husband. This lady does not last long in the public domain of the single. She has no idea of what a “man shortage” is. She marries the best of the many good men who pursue her.

2. The spinster type (Condoleeza Rice): This type is less common. She is awkward and repressed. She exudes a cold and unapproachable aura and has zero sensuality. She doesn’t like to be touched and is uncomfortable with displays of affection. She dresses for function—not attraction. She may be seen as an aloof sort and would rather stay at home than socialize. She usually has one job and does it well. She will hold onto it for life if she can. She knows she must fend for herself and has reconciled within herself that she will be alone. She understands that she will never marry or come under the care and protection of a man. She has few close friends but may have a houseful of animals as she is more comfortable with critters than people. She will probably die alone in an institution or at home.

3. The mistress type (Halle Berry): This type is most common. The mistress represents the great majority of females in our society. She is the typical ankle. She is not averse to hanging out in clubs and it is not difficult to get her into bed if she thinks she likes you. She likes to be out in the streets and has no problem with serial dating or, on occasion, she may juggle date and sleep with more than one man at a time. She usually is needy and as such constantly finds herself exercising poor judgment choosing men. She lacks the kind of inner cohesion and consistency of character required of a wife. If she marries, she will not be successful as a wife and will sooner or later cheat on her spouse. Her dysfunction disables her ability to love a decent man. She subconsciously knows that she is an inadequate woman and as such chooses to mate and breed with inferior men.

4. The prostitute type (Madonna): This type was rare but is becoming more common in today’s ankle world. She is precocious, and was so, even as a little girl. She is bold and brash and easily bored, even with her own company. She has little problem going home from a bar with a strange man. She can be the sexual aggressor—and often is. She is the typical “crazy bitch” that gives “good coochie.” And she has learned to use its power to her advantage. Men tend to like her because she is sexually easy, is uninhibited and knows how to flatter a man’s ego. She doesn’t have a difficult time persuading men to buy things for her and pay a few bills. She can be cold and callous and can detach herself emotionally from a man in an instant when she is done with him. She can fall into maniacal fits of public and private rage if she doesn’t get her way, or she may freak-out for no reason at all. She is a sexual mercenary and probably a narcissist.

There may be some overlap among the above archetypes. The task for any good man who seeks a wife is to learn to discern the wife over the other archetypes, particularly the mistress as she can sometimes masquerade as the wife type, though she can’t do it indefinitely. Her hidden dysfunctions will assert themselves when she is under stress. Look for the mistresses red flags because she represents the overwhelming majority of ankles. The spinster is more easily identified as the one with zero sex appeal. The prostitute can be very hard to resist but not hard to spot. Married and engaged men would do well to not be alone with her. Remember the sluttish cousin who seduced Teri’s (Vanessa Williams) husband (Michael Beach) in Soul Food the movie?

Be like a prospector panning for gold. Know that you may have to sift through much gravel before you find your treasure. Enlarge your field of operation. Stake your mining claim on the world and don’t limit your wife prospecting to a few small streams. You will want your wife at your side when the coming disaster strikes. It will be the remnant of good men and good women who will seed the resurrection of the new world. Christians will call the new world the New Jerusalem. Choose your belief. I have. The world will change.

Be advised—the current frenzy of day to day living is not going to gradually fade out. The end will come in the blink of an eye; most will not be prepared. When our hollow society has passed its tipping point, things will collapse quickly. When the oil stops flowing and the lights go out for good, know the end has come. When the spigots stop flowing and the heat grows forever cold, know that the end has come. When the stores run bare and there is no food anywhere, know that the end has come. The dead will feast on the living. Women and children not under the protection of strong and stout men will be consumed in a fiery feast. Know that we are in the 11th hour and the 59th minute. Midnight is almost upon us. Who knows when that last second will give up its ghost?

Basketball League for White Americans Targets Augusta Georgia

A new professional basketball league boasting rosters made up exclusively of white Americans has its eyes set on Augusta, but the team isn't receiving a warm welcome.

The All-American Basketball Alliance announced in a news release Sunday evening that it intends to start its inaugural season in June and hopes Augusta will be one of 12 cities with a team.

"Only players that are natural born United States citizens with both parents of Caucasian race are eligible to play in the league," the statement said. Augusta Mayor Deke Copenhaver, who has publicly expressed his support for minor league teams in the past, said he would not do the same for this team. As a sports enthusiast, I have always supported bringing more sporting activities to Augusta," he said. "However, in this instance I could not support in good conscience bringing in a team that did not fit with the spirit of inclusiveness that I, along with many others, have worked so hard to foster in our city."

Clint Bryant, athletic director at Augusta State University, laughed when he heard the news."It's so absurd, it's funny, but it gives you an idea of the sickness of our society" he said. "It shows you what lengths people will go to just to be mean-spirited. I think at any basketball level, no matter if it's all black, all white, all Hispanic, all Asian or anyone else, the players should just be a basketball team."

Don "Moose" Lewis, the commissioner of the AABA, said the reasoning behind the league's roster restrictions is not racism. "There's nothing hatred about what we're doing," he said. "I don't hate anyone of color. But people of white, American-born citizens are in the minority now. Here's a league for white players to play fundamental basketball, which they like."

Lewis said he wants to emphasize fundamental basketball instead of "street-ball" played by "people of color." He pointed out recent incidents in the NBA, including Gilbert Arenas' indefinite suspension after bringing guns into the Washington Wizards locker room, as examples of fans' dissatisfaction with the way current professional sports are run.

"Would you want to go to the game and worry about a player flipping you off or attacking you in the stands or grabbing their crotch?" he said. "That's the culture today, and in a free country we should have the right to move ourselves in a better direction."

The Atlanta-based league, which will operate as a single-entity owning all of its teams, is looking for local contacts to pay $10,000 to become a "licensee" in one of 12 cities throughout the Southeast. Lewis said he has already received threats from people opposed to the roster restrictions and several cities have told him to stay out of town. Lewis said he has yet to hear from any one in Augusta."We need a local person ingrained into the community to make this successful," he said.

Lewis said he expects to eventually find support in every town with a team.

"People will come out and support a product they can identify with. I'm the spoken minority right now, but if people will give us a chance, it'll work... The white game of basketball, which is essentially a fundamental game, works."

Negative is Positive

Honestly my brothers and even my sisters. What is our immediate problem? Yesterday I observed so many things negative that were deemed positive that it disgusted me. Our generation has a serious problem with accepting things that are wrong and influencing others into doing them as acts of good. As a generation it seems we do not cherish knowledge. We feel that "unintelligence" is "excellence" and why is that? We cannot simply blame these facts on the media because America is a country in which you have the right to use your own free will .
Why is it that knowledge becomes less important to us as we age? Our ancestors got wiser as time went on ,however, we act as if knowledge is almost pointless. Our generation would rather smoke and drink than read about the world.
I honestly believe that our generation although making improvements in the world is taking millions of steps backwords rather than showing positivity. This post was very general but at the same time if you have friends that feel negative is positive are you really their friend? As a generation we should look to better everyone around us.

This is something that is bothering me so can you comment on why you believe that society and our generation feels negative is positive?

More Men Marrying Wealthier Women

Beagy Zielinski is a German-born 28-year-old stylist who moved to New York to study fashion in 1995 and stayed. Just before Christmas, she broke up with her blue-collar boyfriend, who repaired Navy ships.

“He was extremely insecure about my career and how successful I am,” Ms. Zielinski said.

An analysis of census data to be released Tuesday by the Pew Research Center found that she and countless women like her are victims of a role reversal that is profoundly affecting the pool of potential marriage partners.

“Men now are increasingly likely to marry wives with more education and income than they have, and the reverse is true for women,” said Paul Fucito, spokesman for the Pew Center. “In recent decades, with the rise of well-paid working wives, the economic gains of marriage have been a greater benefit for men.”

The analysis examines Americans 30 to 44 years old, the first generation in which more women than men have college degrees. Women’s earnings have been increasing faster than men’s since the 1970s.

“We’ve known for some time that men need marriage more than women from the standpoint of physical and mental well-being,” said Stephanie Coontz, a professor at Evergreen State College in Olympia, Wash., and research director for the Council on Contemporary Families, a research and advocacy group. “Now it is becoming increasingly important to their economic well-being as well.”

The education and income gap has grown even more in the latest recession, when men held about three in four of the jobs that were lost. The Census Bureau said Friday that among married couples with children, only the wife worked in 7 percent of the households last year, compared with 5 percent in 2007. The percentage rose to 12 percent from 9 percent for blacks, among whom the education and income gap by gender has typically been even greater.

“I’m not married, I would like to be married, and my friends are all in a similar situation,” said Dr. Rajalla Prewitt, a 38-year-old psychiatrist in New Jersey. “We’re having difficulty finding someone where there’s a meeting of the minds, where we can have the same goals and values.”

“Particularly, African-American men who are educated want a traditional home where they are the breadwinner,” said Dr. Prewitt, who is a black woman.

In 2007, the Pew report found, median household incomes of married men, married women and unmarried women were all about 60 percent higher than in 1970. But among unmarried men, median household income rose by only 16 percent. These days, men who marry typically gain another breadwinner.

In 1970, 28 percent of wives had husbands who were better educated, and 20 percent were married to men with less education. By 2007, the comparable figures were 19 percent and 28 percent. In 1970, 4 percent of husbands had wives who made more money; in 2007, 22 percent did.

College-educated wives are less likely to have a husband who is college-educated and in the highest income bracket than they were in 1970, and married women are less likely to have a husband who works.

“Among all married couples,” the report said, “wives contribute a growing share of the household income, and a rising share of those couples include a wife who earns more than her husband.”

While marriage rates have declined over all, women with college degrees are still more likely to marry today than less educated women.

But some women find that the dating pressures are intense. Syreeta McFadden, a 35-year-old Columbia and Sarah Lawrence graduate who is between jobs after working in real estate development, said: “With men of any ethnic group, it’s a little intimidating for them to encounter smart women. Money is tricky.

“But, I think for me, it comes down to compatibility,” Ms. McFadden said. “Can you grow with me? Or as my genius friend the textile designer says, she asks on first dates or meeting men in bars, ‘Do you have a passport and a library card?’ ”

Elaine Richardson, who is in her 50s, is divorced and owns a health care consulting firm in Westchester, said that men “call you high maintenance if you look like you don’t need anyone to take care of you.”

Professor Coontz at Evergreen State recalled that from the late 19th century through the 1940s, it was not uncommon for a woman to finish high school or go to college and marry a man who made more but was less educated.

“This changed in the 1950s to 1970, as financial returns to education really mounted for men, but not for women,” Professor Coontz said.

The latest shift, Professor Coontz said, “is truly a sea change in gender relations within marriage.”

“Many people have worried that men’s increasing dependence on their wives, especially if they are laid off, might lead to the kind of backlash against women workers that happened in the Great Depression,” Professor Coontz said. “But I think that wives’ work has become so normative that this is unlikely.”

Ms. Zielinski, the fashion stylist, said her best friend, a man, told her once: “ ‘You are confident, have good credit, own your own business, travel around the world and are self-sufficient. What man is going to want you?’ He laughed, but I found that pretty depressing.”

Are Black Men & Women Being Divided?

This has been on my mind for a while. It started with me wondering why there is such division between us as men and women. This division is evidenced by the steadily dropping marriage rate, a seemingly across the board change in the way our women view us, and in every facet of the media. It really seems as though the establishment controlled media is actively driving a wedge between us. On television there are already only a few of us but happily married, positive, monogamous couples are nonexistent. Black men are usually portrayed as clownish or resource draining dogs that should be avoided and the so-called reality portrayals are blatantly limited to the negativity seen on the news and talk shows like Maury Povich and Oprah while black women are often shown to prosper independently. That sends a message to women.

The second biggest media culprit has to be radio. It is well known that every radio station has approved play lists. For a while I was under the impression that there was just no diverse music coming out. I was happy to find out that good and diverse music is still out there but disheartened to learn that the artists making this music get no airplay. Why not? Why are all the female anthems out so negative? Pushing us “To The Left” and, outside of the occasional rarity like Keyshia Cole’s Love for example, the only songs showing us love refer to our women wanting thugs like Fantasia’s Hood Boy and Sunshine Anderson’s I’m In Love With A Thug. That’s a message, influence, mind control, and subversive social reprogramming.

Ladies and Gentlemen why are we being divided?

Bruised ego?

1. Point out the gut. Most guys, especially American men, worry about their guts. It's the most repulsive part of a guy's body other than the testicles. Drawing any amount of attention to the gut for any reason is bound to make a guy a bit self-conscious.
2. Insult his job. Even if a guy downplays his job, he's probably at least a little proud of what he does, or at the very least he doesn't appreciate being mocked for it. Bringing up the parts of a job that a guy hates or subtly implying that he's not important can be humbling and insulting. Awesome, right?!
3. Compare him to an athlete. No guy really wins in this type of comparison. "Wow, I wonder whether you could even catch one of Zambrano's pitches!" Casually saying something like that can be enough to get a guy to turn off the game and go straight to the gym.
4. Compare him to a musician. Likewise, guys will be pretty humiliated when their faults are summed up in comparison to Bon Jovi or Mick Jagger (especially Bon Jovi, since Bon Jovi sucks).
5. Compare him to his father. This one's pretty low. Whether a guy likes or hates his father, he certainly doesn't want to be compared to the hairy old bastard. Just call us Oedipus, I suppose.

6. Buy him big clothes. Mothers are famous for this one -- they'll buy their sons clothes that are just large enough to be insulting. Whether or not a guy has a fat complex, this is enough to have him ordering a Bowflex in about five minutes.

7. Compliment someone he hates. Lots of guys can be vindictive, and most have at least one sworn enemy (like superheroes, we like to think). A simple compliment directed toward that enemy is like kryptonite (except it causes less "death" and more "pathetic moping").

8. Treat him like he's poor. Offer to pay for dinner, movies, and everything else all the time, with subtle comments like, "Oh, you'll get the next one after your paycheck comes in." Of course, this can backfire if you're with a guy that doesn't really care how much money he makes.

9. Laugh during sex. It doesn't matter what you laugh about -- if you laugh during sex, we'll take it badly. We'll assume it means that there's something wrong with us. Are our bodies funny to you? Funny like a clown? HOW ARE THEY FUNNY?

Above are 9 things that a CNN writer by the name of Phil Dotree believes will bruise a mans ego. I personally believe as a man your ego should't be bruised because throughout life you will face adversity. You have to learn how to take adversity and make the best of it.

Baltimore Raven vs. New England Patriots Recap

Yesterday the Patriots played the Baltimore Ravens to move one step closer to a superbowl contention. They looked really good against the Pats as Ray Rice(Baltimore Ravens player and our personal M.V.P. of the game) rushed for 159 yards along with a 7.2 average. Neither quarterback really dominated the game as Joe Flacco(10.0 passer rating) went 4/10 with only 34 yards and Tom Brady(49.1 passer rating) went 23/42 with 152 yards and 3 interceptions. Next week the Baltimore Ravens will play the Colts at home.

The Ravens defeated the Patriots 34 -14..Do you think the Ravens have an opportunity at winning this game?

McDone?

So we all know who Donovan McNabb is right? If not I will give you a little history on Donovan McNabb. Donovan was drafted as the 2nd overall pick in the 1999 NFL draft out of Syracuse University. He has led the Eagles to four consecutive division championships (2001-2004), five NFC Championship Games (2001-2004 and 2008), and one Super Bowl (Super Bowl XXXIX). Donovan has also made 5 pro bowls.Despite all these accolades he has come up short many times. He has also faced controversy with teamates and coaches. So with all this said Why is he still in Philly? If your job is to win a superbowl and he can't do that then why has his job been so secure? Do you think McNabb will be a hall of famer?

Leave your opinions as comments below and for those who didn't watch the game the Eagles lost 14 to 34 to the Cowboys in order to end there current season

Got Visitation?

“Visitation” one of the most dreadful words on Howard University’ campus and among many other HBCU’s, for those who may not know “visitation” can also be described as the set of rules for bringing a guest into your dorm. Most students almost feel like they are being punished.
“Visitation” is frowned upon by most students and is considered unnecessary and old fashion. The word visitation is currently used in jail for inmates who have someone coming to visit. I personally see visitation rules as nonsense but R.A.’s (resident assistants) and elders may look at these rules as “prestigious” (or helpful).

They believe that there are benefits towards having visitation rules such as more focus, better chances of passing, and a way of motivating us. I completely disagree with this vision being input at Howard University because of the 65% graduation rate. I compare visitation to having a sheltered child whom will most likely show “out” upon being released.
At Howard there are many students who are doing badly, regardless of the visitation rules. I think visitation helps a lot of people stay sane on campus. Let’s be honest, most college kids are active sexually. Regardless of rules, most college kids feel that they are grown now and have the right to do whatever they want. I will admit that visitation is a distraction but not having it is just as much of a distraction. When we do not have visitation most students on campus are distracted by this one fact.
I believe that there should be an alternative to visitation rules on HBCU campuses because as we can see these rules aren’t statistically working especially when most people are not graduating from Howard University. HBCU’s should implement a certain standard when it comes to “visitation”. I believe first semester all individuals after being briefed with the rules should have 24-hour visitation with up to 2 guest for up to 3 days at a time. If you are placed on academic probation second semester then I believe that you should have your visitation revoked or be placed on the previous visitation rules. These rules will prevent the distraction, which most college students suffer from.
Visitations overall affect is more of hindrance than a help. I believe that most people choose to do the opposite of what is told in life. As college students, I believe we deserve freedom and the opportunity to find out who we are by making mistakes. Part of being a grown up is making grown up decisions and visitation rules hinder this. Honestly just, think about it will stopping college students from being sexually active actually improve grades?

Dwyane Johnson aka The Rock: The Sad Reality

When i was younger, I used to watch WWE wrestling i was a huge fan of  the Rock - The most electrifying man in show business. This guy had the charisma that so few lack nowadays in almost everything on television. He carried wrestling throughout the early 2000's before is suffered a massive decline, which is even worse now since the mysterious deaths of many wrestlers and the association with steroid usage.

After he decided to leave wrestling and pursue a hollywood career, I was highly disappointed. When he first started, he did movies that stayed through to his image. He played a warrior king, a bounty hunter, a tough sheriff, a football coach etc. Then a couple years ago he started acting in Disney movies, which brings us to his latest role as the Tooth Fairy.

Granted this might just be a phase, and he might come back once again and remind us of how tough he is and all, but to be honest it is a sad reality of the times we live in. People admire men, who play roles that feminize them, on and off the Television Screen. I mean this is a wrestler, a former football player, who is playing a tooth fairy in a movie, this is not as funny as a lot of people think.

Dudes are wearing skinny jeans, carrying purses, and will soon will be wearing skirts (All it takes is one rapper!) I was at Target today, and I was walking around in the book section, and I came to the Realization that 90% of the books were written either by or for women. We are so caught up with the glorification of women that we have literally downgraded ourselves. And what has this lead to: According to Time Magazine, women that are more dissatisfied and unhappy than they have ever been. Even Feminist are complaining about how easily they are dominating men. No wonder simps are singing songs like Trick'n.

The only visual of a man today is a chiseled body who is overtly emotional, or one that will sit with his girl and watch the notebook.

I just hope that we as man can do better in the near future
